Bioglitter bring eco glitter to the High Street
Environmentally-friendly glitter brand, Bioglitter™, has partnered with Primark and Selfridges to launch eco-friendly glitter onto the high street.
From July, all glitter that Primark buys for use in its own-brand cosmetics will be made from Bioglitter's eco-friendly product. Selfridges is stocking Eco Glitter Fun biodegradable glitter sets, which use Bioglitter™, launching them instore today, World Oceans Day.
Unlike traditional polyester glitter, Bioglitter™ is made from plant material cellulose, developed to naturally biodegrade in the environment.
Stephen Cotton, Commercial Director Bioglitter™, comments:
“It's fantastic to be working with major retailers in helping to cut the glitter litter issue. We've got around 12 million tonnes of plastic entering the world's ocean's every year, and glitter plays a part in this, even if it is just a small part. Working with major brands helps us spread the message that consumers can choose an alternative to plastic glitter and help do their bit to protect the environment.
Primark's recently launched PS…Festival collection features nine products including six different loose glitters options and eye shadow palettes, Glitter Eyes, with 32 colour options, created using Bioglitter™.
Primark's Group Product Director, Steve Lawton says:
“We take our responsibility as a leading international retailer seriously and want to reduce our impact on the environment wherever we can by finding new ways to make and sell the products that our customers love. Introducing our first range of eco-friendly glitter is just one of the ways we're doing that.”
