Wellness therapies for cancer sufferers

Designed to help restore and soothe the mind, body and soul, Germaine de Capuccini have created a small menu of therapies for face and body specifically for those undergoing oncological treatments.

Along with massage, carefully selected products target skin related side effects caused by chemotherapy, radiation treatments and other strong medication.

The treatments include the use of the Holistic Obsidiana Stones; Black Obsidian Stones are used warm, whilst White Onyx Stones are used ice cool. Both are used simultaneously and have the effect of restoring a deep sense of calm together with a release of negative emotions.

The selection of wellness therapies includes Rose & Honey Harmony Facial, which soothes stressed and sensitive skin, restoring a deeply nourishing level of hydration; Aloe & Mint Cooling Body Therapy, a treatment that combines a wrap and light massage; Phytocare Baobab Body Ritual incorporating a gentle exfoliation, massage and scalp therapy; and Calming Hand, Foot & Scalp Therapy those suffering with peripheral neuropathy – the use of a chocolate cream with massage can found to be helpful and so this is incorporated when appropriate.

The newly opened Ye Olde Bell Spa in Retford, Nottinghamshire is one of the first spas to launch this range of therapies and the inclusion of the facilities on offer there will provide additional benefits for clients. These include their Sabbia Med area offering light, heat with sand and music invoking a sense of wellness, and the Salt Inhalation Room which aids respiratory problems, sinuses and allergies.

Clients undertaking treatments are provided with a special after treatment card giving more information about maximising the effects of their treatment and suggesting appropriate products to help their skin concerns through chemotherapy.

Germaine de Capuccini trained therapists must have a level three qualification to undertake the additional training required to offer the treatments, and salons and spas are provided with an information booklet outlining treatments and products suitable for patients with cancer.
