Protecting skin from blue light pollution
The laboratories of Germaine de Capuccini have introduced the CityProof Oxygenating Treatment created to build a defensive shield between the environment and the body, in particular acting against the effects of artificial light created by our use of computers, tablets and smartphones.
Together with UV rays, pollution is the first cause of ageing particularly in urban environments. A combination of both generate a large number of free radicals, depleting oxygen from the cells, suffocating the skin and accelerating the process of cellular ageing.
“Our skin has to face daily, more than 300 sources of pollution; these include UV rays, air pollution and domestic pollution,” explains Carole Jones of Totally UK. “HEV is amongst these and is a relatively new threat to the skin. HEV is a group of artificial light, known as blue light which is emitted from electronic devices such as computers, laptops, mobile phones tablets etc. Blue light is a short wavelength that produces a high amount of energy and can be classified as a third band of sun ray, blue light produces more hyperpigmentation than UVB and is more damaging that UVA and UVB combined because it penetrates down to the bottom of the dermis, affecting production of collage, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Forty-three per cent of adults work in a job that requires prolonged use of a computer or tablet, whilst on average young people check their phone 150 times a day.”
CityProof consists of five non-personalised treatments that include the use of two innovative masks: Pure O2 Recharge Mask is an oxygenating bubble mask applied in a gel form that, when in contact with the skin, releases a concentration of pure oxygen which allows the cells to absorb the optimal amount of oxygen.
A combination of MPC-Complex, a Polysaccharides and High Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid, strengthens the skin's defenses and creates a protective barrier.
Two home-care products are also included in the new treatment regimen: 1st Essence is a serum which activates the skin's defense mechanisms, and Secret Mist can be used throughout the day, under or over make-up. It offers a ‘flash effect' with a lifting action, minimising pores, softening lines and leaving skin instantly more radiant.
