Staff safety No.1 priority ahead of salon reopening

Staff safety in the salon is the main concern of salon owners (36%) as they prepare to reopen, according to the results of new survey.

The research, conducted by Phorest Salon Software, revealed that 30% of salon owners are concerned about the potential gap between the revenue their salon generates versus the overheads they have to pay.

When it comes to operating their businesses under the ‘new normal' conditions, majority of salon owners (68%) said that they plan to open their doors for customers for five or six days a week, with 41% of those surveyed planning to lengthen their opening hours to cope with the demand. Most of the salon owners plan to have zero to two (34%) or three to four (36%) members of staff working in the salon at any one time, depending on the salon size, with 47% planning to change the services and treatments they offer.

An area that doesn't seem to concern salon owners is communicating with clients, with many indicating that they have been using tools to stay connected with their customers during lockdown.

Ask to rate their levels of confidence ahead of reopening their salons safely, salon owners rate it at an average of 7.3 out of 10.
