Self-employed urged to complete tax returns early
HMRC is urging self-employed beauty and hair professionals to submit their Self Assessment tax returns for the 2022/23 tax year at the earliest opportunity.
Although the deadline is not until 31st January 2024, HMRC say that filing now could mean you benefit from an early refund if you've paid too much tax during 2022-2023. You'll still have until 31st January to pay the tax due, but you'll have time to look into payment options if you're unable to pay in full by the deadline.
Newly self-employed professionals will need to register online for a Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) if completing a Self Assessment tax return for the first time.
