Nourish London commissions fair trade gifting range
Freeset make Fair Trade Guaranteed customisable bags, tees and apparel for export around the world, providing women working in the sex trade with a choice of alternative employment.
Organic and vegan skincare brand Nourish London has collaborated with Freeset, a fair trade business that focuses on creating positive employment opportunities for women affected by sex trafficking in West Bengal, India.
Women supported by Freeset, established nearly 20 years ago in Kolkata, make Fair Trade Guaranteed customisable bags, tees and apparel for export around the world using locally sourced organic fabrics and environmentally-friendly processes. This provides an income above minimum wage, paid leave, pension contributions and sick leave, providing women working in the sex trade with a choice of alternative employment.
Nourish London has commissioned Freeset to create a selection of handmade toiletry bags from locally sourced organic fabrics that will be used as part of their gifting range.
Commenting on the collaboration with Freeset, Dr Pauline Hili, Founder of
Nourish London, says:
“We are delighted to working with Freeset and contributing to supporting the great work they are doing. The bags are beautifully made and sustainably sourced so make wonderful companions to our products. We look forward to continuing to develop the partnership further.”
Janet Rogers, Founder and CEO of Via Design and UK Brand Ambassador for
Freeset, adds:
“Freeset are delighted to be working with Nourish London and to be able to produce this first order of sustainable packaging - sharing the same values of sustainability and care for our beautiful planet. Its orders from brands like Nourish London which provide ongoing fairly paid work for the team and enable them to provide for themselves and their families.
“Knowing they are appreciated and valued as well as the lovely products the women create also helps build a flourishing and vibrant global community.”
