New Lumenis Stellar device shows positive acne results
Aesthetic practitioner, Dr Marwa Ali, is praising the new Lumenis Stellar M22 device for its results in the treatment of acne and acne scarring.
Dr Ali is based at The Wellness Clinic in Harrods, where she specialises in advanced non-surgical procedures. She uses the Lumenis Stellar M22 to create a bespoke treatment for each client, as the system offers several wavelengths to different elements of acne. These include Stellar IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) which treats active acne by shrinking the glands used to create sebum, ResurFX non-ablative skin resurfacing laser to treat scarring, and the Q-switched Nd:YAG module to treat the pigmentation from acne scarring.
Dr Marwa Ali comments:
“Already one of the most common skin conditions in the United Kingdom and across the globe, acne's prevalence has been amplified as a result of the ongoing pandemic. Recurring lockdowns and mandatory mask wearing affected many people's skin health due to the stress, anxiety and lack of sleep they were experiencing. All of these factors have contributed to increased incidences of acne, particularly maskne [mask acne].
“As well as contributing to the worsening of acne incidences, many individuals have also experienced a worsening in acne scarring. Scarring is a fairly normal complication of acne caused by the body's inflammatory response to trauma to the skin follicle wall. It can be caused by picking or squeezing, so it's important not to do this, and is the factor that very often causes phycological distress amongst patients.”
In addition to its treatment of acne and acne scarring, the
Lumenis Stellar M22 also has capability to tackle 30 different complaints including unwanted pigmentation and tattoos, Vascular Lesions, skin rejuvenation and overall improvement of the skin's appearance.
