London salon wears it pink for breast cancer

Winchmores Hair & BeautyLondon salon, Winchmores Hair & Beauty, has raised £1,200 through fundraising throughout October as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Great Lengths certified salon encouraged clients to have a single pink Great Lengths bond applied, charging a £5 donation to support Breast Cancer Now. The team had an original target of £500, but smashed this as their clients' embraced the fundraiser, more than doubling the target in donations. Clients further supported the salon's fundraiser by sharing their looks on social media using the hashtag #WINCHMORESWEARITPINK.

Commenting on their Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign, Winchmores Hair & Beauty Salon Manager, Melissa Shannon, says:

“We have many clients, friends and family who have been affected by Breast Cancer. Although Coronavirus is at the forefront of our minds, we did not want to let this affect the very important fundraising efforts that are helping to treat and eradicate the many other illnesses we face as a society. Our hope was that a single pink strand would start the conversation and remind as many people as possible how important it is to regularly check their breasts.”

Joscelin McCourt, CEO for Great Lengths UK & Ireland, adds:

“We are often impressed by the incredible work our salons deliver all year, but the #WINCHMORESWEARITPINK campaign in October from Winchmores Hair & Beauty really stood out to us. It's such a simple yet very powerful way to get involved and the response from their clients speaks for itself. By more than doubling their own target this is a huge achievement that Melissa and the team should be very proud of.”
