Hair & Beauty Charity achieves Scottish charity status
Hair & Beauty Charity has gained registered charitable status in Scotland, alongside it's already registered status in England & Wales.
The charity offers financial assistance to hairdressers, barbers and beauty professionals who are facing difficult times due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness, bereavement and financial hardship.
Currently, 10% of the charity's beneficiaries live in Scotland.
The Hair & Beauty Charity has passed the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) charity test and received the Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) charity number SC051293. The charity will now be regulated to ensure it follows its governing document, acts with care and diligence and meets its legal responsibilities.
First established in 1836 as the Hairdressers' Orphan Fund friendly society, Hair & Beauty Charity has been a registered charity in England and Wales since 2017.
Commenting on gaining registered charitable status in Scotland,
Hair & Beauty Charity President, Samantha Grocutt, says:
“The charity started the application process after listening to feedback from our Scottish supporters who felt it was important for the Hair & Beauty Charity to also be registered in Scotland. Our trustees of the charity take their governance extremely seriously and welcome the new level of compliance within Scottish legal structure and charity law.”
