CEW President Caroline Neville awarded MBE

Caroline Neville, President of Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW), has been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in recognition of her work in mentoring female entrepreneurs, promoting the UK beauty sector, and undertaking charitable work.

Caroline was a founder member of the CEW in 1992, becoming President in 1995, a position she continues to hold today. The not-for-profit organisation, which now has over 1,000 members, promotes the achievements of women in the beauty industry through education, recognition and philanthropy. It also supports many women's charities, working closely with The Eve Appeal, raising in excess of £250,000 to fund research into gynaecological cancers.

Born in Peckham, South East London, Caroline began her career as a journalist on fashion magazine Honey, and went on to set up her own PR consultancy in the early 1960s aged just 20, at a time when the industry was hugely male dominated. She ran her consultancy until 2000 when the day-to-day management was passed over to her children.

Commenting on her award, Caroline says:

“To receive such an MBE from Her Majesty is just a tremendous honour… I have had the privilege to work with some exceptional women over my 56-year career and I think we have managed to not only promote the interests of a key UK industry, but also provide the nurturing and support for young women in business that was simply not there when I started in 1962.”

The CEW have also announced the appointment to the executive board of CEW board members Julietta Dexter, Founder and CEO of The Communications Store, and Sarah Brown, Founder of Pai Skincare.
