Beauty & hair to benefit from minimum wage rise
Beauty and hair workers will benefit from an increase in the Minimum Living Wage and National Minimum Wage from today.
Those over the age of 25 receiving the National Living Wage will receive £8.21 an hour from 1st April 2019, an increase of 4.9%, equivalent to an additional £690 per year. It is said that this will affect around 1.6 million employees.
Workers aged 21 to 24 years in receipt of the National Minimum Wage will now receive £7.70 an hour, an increase from £7.38, and those aged 18 to 20 years will receive £6.15 per hour. Employees aged from school leaving age and are still under 18 will earn £4.35 per hour.
By law, the National Living Wage and National Minimum Wage are the lowest rates of pay that employers are allowed to pay their staff.
