The Permanent Jewellery Trend: A Must-Have Service for Salons This Christmas
The trend of permanent jewellery is showing no signs of
slowing down, and Permanent Jewellery Artist and Salon Owner Jemma Ball is here
to teach you how to introduce it to your salon just in time for the festive
season.
In September 2023, Jemma introduced permanent jewellery at
her salon after witnessing the success of the service in the States. Since
then, Jemma and her team at Links have performed over 1,000 welds and are
regularly fully booked both in the salon and at pop up events with this new
offering.
“It's a fantastic new service to offer in salons. We've found
that it brings in lots of new clients, as well as familiar faces too. It's also
extremely profitable and caught my interest because you don't need to book out
a large amount of time,” Jemma explains. “Everyone loves treating themselves to
something sparkly, with the added benefit of no clasps and no fuss. Most of our
clients come in groups—friends, or mothers and daughters. It also makes for a
great gift idea, and we tend to sell a lot of gift vouchers, especially around
Christmas.”
Following the successful launch, Jemma introduced ABT
Accredited Permanent Jewellery training early this year, which not only covers
the service itself but also how to brand your business and market permanent
jewellery within the salon. The ABT Course Accreditation makes obtaining the
correct insurance straightforward—a significant benefit since insurance for permanent
jewellery can sometimes be challenging to find.
“When I first trained, there were very few permanent
jewellery suppliers in the UK, and the US had much more exciting designs. I
decided to learn everything about the manufacturing process of charms and
chains. In July, we launched Links Permanent Jewellery Supplies, making it
easier for our students to offer unique but high quality, luxury charms and
chains to their own customers.”
