CND's Fashion Week nails round-up
CND™ have finished their month-long session at the recent Fashion Weeks around the globe, including sponsorship of three AW18 shows and presentations in London, creating stunning nails for the runway models.
At Gareth Pugh's show, CND™ Brand Ambassador Marian Newman took inspiration from the designer's muse – a modern-day Grace Jones who is strong and bold, and who gets what she wants!
Marian explains her nail designs:
“The nails are a mix of sculpted textures, sharp shapes, punctured tips and animal prints. Featured colours include Vinylux Blackpool and Blue Eyeshadow for the reincarnation of the Grace Jones SO's power woman. Gareth's warrior women continue their march into the future with their nails, as their badges of strength.”
Marian and her team created nails using textures of sculptured shards for glacial-like movement, drenched in pigmented shades of inky black and Yves Klein Blue.
Marian adds:
“These nail looks can definitely relate to current trends; however, Gareth always has his own way of showing it and never goes mainstream. Textures are inspired by a crumpled car crash, glossy finishes, so high-shine it's reflective and leopard prints are ultra-cool with a twist of blue.”
CND™ Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold adds:
“It is a dream to partner with Gareth Pugh, his creativity and abstract thinking is so refreshing and truly speaks to the DNA of our brand. Collaborating with Gareth provides the CND™ team with an opportunity to really push the boundaries in our nail artistry and design!”
Ryan Lo's AW18 show was inspired by ladies who lunch and Parisian bohemians. For this show, Marian created nails to represent the designer's ‘proper' ladies' looks. She explains:
“Ryan has a fun juxtaposition of ‘proper lady' and total eccentricity! It jumps from one to the other. But with Ryan it is always pretty, girly and feminine. This time there is also a bit of ‘Parisian Bohemia' with starry accents.
Marian and her team created nails using CND™ shades of from the Spring 2018 Chic Shock collection, including Candied, Gummi and Jellied, along with dark eccentric colours including Wildfire and Black Pool. “Pastel colours are great for winter, as are bold dark shades in summer – it's about finding the shade that makes you happy,” says Marian.
Jan Arnold comments:
“It's always a pleasure collaborating with Ryan at Fashion Week, his love for colour and his uninhibited creativity is totally inspiring. He also has a true appreciation for nail art and design…almost as much as we do!”
The third show that CND™ collaborated on at London Fashion Week was for Sophia Webster. Her collection was inspired by lights, camera and Latin dance. Here nails were designed by Tracey Lee and produced by the CND Design Lab Team.
Nails were drenched in over 2,000 Swarovski crystals and more than 7,000 Crystal Pixies and dipped in pools of bright orange to create ombré effects and glistening French tips.
Commenting on Tracey's designs, Marian Newman says:
“These nail looks are total CND™ Nail Artistry at its best. The tiny works of art have all been hand painted and are the epitome of serious sparkle. Forget jewellery because it's all about the nails – they're fashion over beauty, finishing off the final look.”
Jan Arnold adds:
“We are so excited to partner with Sophia Webster this season, her personality shines through all of her designs and her love for colour, pattern and texture allows us to have so much fun exploring new techniques!”
