NHBF demands industry recognition from policymakers

In a bid to demand formal recognition of the vital contribution the hair and beauty sectors make to the UK economy, communities and wellbeing, the National Hair & Beauty Federation (NHBF) has launched the Respect Our Sector campaign.

With the message “Respect Our Sector: Recognise. Invest. Include”, the NHBF is urging policymakers to see the industry as a high-value sector delivering skills and jobs, along with social infrastructure, sustainability and wellbeing.

The NHBF is also calling on government to establish an employer-led apprenticeship system that is properly funded and aligned with modern working realities. 

Caroline Larissey, NHBF Chief Executive, comments: 

“Respect Our Sector is more than a message – it's a movement. We're asking government to recognise our true value – to value the people, power the economy, and futureproof the services that are integral to daily life across every postcode in the UK.”

She adds: 

“Stronger hair and beauty businesses mean stronger communities,” says Larissey. “This sector is resilient, creative and essential. But to continue thriving, it must be included in the policy decisions that shape our country's future.”
