Maria Kovacs X R+Co reveal AW20/21 hair looks

Session stylist and Educator, Maria Kovacs, of creative hub Ready To Wear Hairdressing, has shared backstage hair looks created using R+Co products for designers showing their AW20/21 collections.

With 26 years' experience Maria Kovacs has worked with Toni & Guy and then Tigi as European Creative Director and has lead shows and campaigns brands such as Mark Fast, Henry Holland, Iris Van Herpen, Christopher Raeburn and Manish Arora. Maria founded Ready To Wear Hairdressing with Make-up Artist Amy Barrington-Long, a trend-led platform and creative hub that offers education and virtual learning.

Transporting us to the first runway in Mars, Maria created strong anti-gravity hair.

Maria took a radial section, 2 inches around the hairline, and sectioned out of the way, brushing remaining hair and fastening into a secure bun on top of the crown.

Next, she pinned the hair in preparation for the weft, setting everything into place with R+Co's Vicious hairspray around the head to act as a foundation for the shape and the weft was secured.

This amazing look was finished by blow-drying the radial section of hair back away from the face which was then sprayed and set with R+Co Outer space Hairspray and lashings of R+Co's Vicious hairspray.

This collection observes the duality of the imagination and reality inspired by larger than life characters and their dual personalities such as Willy Wonka, Moira Rose, Peter Pan and the Mad Hatter.

Maria created magical hair, prepping with R+Co's Dallas thickening spray to create a lived-in texture. The hair was then placed into a centre parting, and a section was taken from the front hairline and rolled into a mini victory roll and secure with pins. Maria did this on both sides to create a balanced shape.

Continuing with the playful theme, Maria sprayed the hair with R+Co Balloon Dry volume spray to create flyaway texture and finished with R+Co Outerspace Hairspray to achieve a flexible but lasting hold.

Mark Fast Winter Ocean Drive AW2021

This collection presented a journey into the enchanting mystery of the sea, with hair styled to mimic water's reflective flow and shine.

Therefore, Maria started by placing the hair in tuxedo parting, following the line on the inside corner of the eyes, working their way towards the crown ensuring a perfect, deep side parting.

Next, the hair was sectioned at the nape and sprayed with R+Co Dallas thickening spray and blow-dried straight and close to the head. This technique was continued to the crown.

Maria applied R+Co Chiffon Mousse to the front hairline and the parting, then dried the hair close to the head.

R+Co Outerspace Hairspray was generously applied to lock the shape, and for extra hold at the hairline and root areas, this was followed with R+Co Vicious Hairspray.

Afro hair was left beautiful natural, with Maria using R+Co Dry oil spray on the roots to mid-lengths, on all styles, to finish this water-inspired, shiny dual texture look.
