Organic spa brand gains B Corp certification
Made for Life Organics has become the first UK spa brand to gain certification as a registered B Corporation, part of a group of companies who pursue purpose as well as profit.
To gain B Corp certification, the Cornwall-based brand had to meet rigorous social and environmental standards covering Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers, which align with the ethos of the business and company founder, Amanda Winwood.
Key criteria that the company had to meet included evidencing socially and environmentally responsible practices including energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency.
Commenting, Amanda Winwood, Founder of Made for Life Organics, says:
“Gaining B Corp accreditation is not an easy process, but we were delighted to have gone through the audit process and reached the high scoring we achieved and also to be the first UK spa brand to achieve this. B Corp recognises businesses that have an aim alongside being commercially successful to also be a Force for Good. That has been and always will be the aim of Made for Life Organics.”
The B Corp community comprises over 3,200 businesses globally and 255 in the UK from a cross section of industries, including renowned brands Innocent, Pukka Herbs, Abel & Cole and JoJo Maman Bebe amongst others.
On Made For Life Organics' achievements, Kate Sandle, Director of Programmes and Engagement at B Lab UK, says:
“Being able to welcome Made for Life Organics to the B Corp community is hugely exciting. Their commitment to doing business differently will be an inspiration to others and really help spread the idea that we can redefine success in business to be as much about people and planet as it is about profit.”
