MPs & salon owners discuss Covid-19 challenges

East Kilbride salon, Rainbow Room International, recently welcomed local MP, Dr Lisa Cameron, to their business to discuss the challenges facing the industry over the last year.

Dr Cameron, Member of Parliament for East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow, met with Rainbow Room International East Kilbride Owner, Adrian Foxworthy, as part of a programme organised by the National Hair & Beauty Federation (NHBF). The scheme sees MPS and MSPs visit beauty and hair salons across the UK to meet salon owners and employees to discuss the challenges of Covid-19 as well as where additional support could be offered from the UK and devolved governments.

Commenting on her visit to Rainbow Room International East Kilbride, Dr Lisa Cameron MP, says:

“It was fantastic to meet local salon owner Adrian Foxworthy and to hear from the team about the challenges facing this key sector in East Kilbride as they work to return to a more recognisable business environment. The hair and beauty sector has been heavily affected by the pandemic. A number of issues raised will inform our work in Parliament, particularly on the challenges facing the hairdressing industry and I will certainly be pushing for more support from the Government on ensuring hairdressers are proportionately included in the Governments Covid-19 recovery plans.”

Rainbow Room International salon owner and director, Adrian Foxworthy, adds:

“It was good to talk about business issues with our local MP Lisa Cameron this week who was attentive to the issues we raised.”
