Government postpones close contact services
Following Prime Minister Boris Johnson's announcement today (31st July) that the opening of close contact services in England is being postponed by at least two weeks, salons and spas offering treatments on the face must refrain from doing so rather than reopening services from tomorrow (1st August).
In his statement, Mr Johnson said that the decision would be reviewed on 15th August at the earliest. This refers to the following treatments (this list is not exhaustive):
- Face waxing, sugaring or threading services
- Facial treatments
- Advanced facial technical (electrical or mechanical)
- Eyelash treatments
- Make up application
- Dermarolling
- Dermaplaning
- Microblading
- Electrolysis on the face
- Eyebrow treatments
- Intricate detailing, outlining or shaving of beards
- Advanced beauty therapy and aesthetic treatments
The government has also today updated its document, ‘Keeping workers and clients safe during COVID-19 in close contact services' document, which is available to download.
