CND showcase SS18 nails at NYFW
At last week's New York Fashion Week, CND sponsored two runway shows, The Blonds x Disney Villains and Libertine, where Team CND created stunning nail designs to complement the designers' SS19 collections.
Designers Phillipe and David Blond were inspired by the flawed symbols of Disney Villains. For The Blonds x Disney Villains, CND Lead Nail Artist Shelena Robinson took inspiration from dark fairy tales creating seductive longer nails with razor-sharp stiletto tips. Standout designs included Stolen Hearts, created by CND Nail Ambassador Winne Huang. Winne combined CND Hero Shade Decadence with shards of gold for a bejewelled focal point.
CND Design Lab Nail Artist Tracey Lee created the Gangster's Talon, in the shape of a threatening talon, painted in a deep, metallic purple using CND Hero Shade Rock Royalty. The underside of the nails was studded with suction cup details. Tracey Lee also created Evil Mistress, inspired by villainous horns, using CND Hero Shade Black Pool.
CND Design Lab Nail Artist Lauren Wireman created the Couture design using CND Hero Shade Wild Fire, a bespoke set of individually curated nails inspired by Cruella De Ville featuring Dalmatian spots and pops of blood red. The character's iconic black and white hair was represented with feather plumes.
Libertine's SS19 collection was inspired by fine needle-point embroidery and Georgian glass-covered portrait stones. Designer Johnson Hartig used muted, pastel tones with pops of bright bold colour in his collection. To complement this, CND Lead Nail Artist Heather Reynosa created nails inspired by Petit Point embroidery combining vintage stones, 24k gold frames, Victorian pearls, monogramed signets and keepsakes.
Standout nails at Libertine's runway show included Heirloom by CND Lead Nail Artist Shelena Robinson, a refined rose print nail crafted using the entire CND Spring Sweet Escape collection mixed with CND Shellac Matte Top Coat, which aged the shades. Antique florals were hand painted and finished with gold gilding.
CND Lead Nail Artist Heather Reynosa designed Branded Love Lock nails, inspired by the tokens of love worn by Victorians which included locks of hair from their loved ones. Heather braided fine locks of hair to represent two loves coming together as one, finished with a caviar bead frame. CND Hero shades used included CND Vinylux Nail Polish in Studio White and Vintage.
