NHBF unveils Manifesto to promote industry's vital role

The National Hair & Beauty Federation (NHBF) has unveiled its 'Manifesto 2024' which outlines their aim to promote the vital role the hair and beauty sector play in creating jobs, encouraging wellbeing and supporting communities.

Caroline Larissey, Chief Executive of the NHBF and board members joined MPs and industry representatives at a parliamentary event hosted by Caroline Nokes MP to reveal the manifesto, which includes:

  • Enabling primary care professionals to refer people to a range of local, non-clinical services to support their health and wellbeing, known as social prescribing.
  • Creating a level playing field through aesthetics legislation to ensure that highly qualified beauty professionals are included in the list of those eligible to offer non-invasive treatment services.
  • VAT reform, business rates reform, restraint on rising wages, positive high street policies and investment, targeted support on energy and a crackdown on tax-evasion.
  • More effective redistribution of levy funding, flexi-apprenticeships, joint promotion of the Beauty T-level, up-to-date careers advice and improved liaison between the Department of Education and schools.
Positive sustainability initiatives including guidance on achieving net zero targets and a call for further green incentives to support business.
