UK's first blue-toned shampoo for brunettes

Hair experts Charles Worthington have introduced the UK's first blue-toned shampoo for brunettes as part of their new customisable colour care system designed to protect, enhance and tone natural or colour-treated hair whilst reversing the damage caused by the chemical colouring process.

Charles Worthington ColourPlex enables those with colour-treated hair to wash away damage, whilst retaining the vibrancy of colour first achieved in the salon tackling bleach blond highlights that may have turned brassy and brunettes shades that have faded to warmer, unwanted red tones.

Ken O'Rourke, Charles Worthington Brand Ambassador, says:

“After investing time and money at a salon, you don't want to see your gorgeous hair colour disappear after a couple of weeks just because your usual hair washing routine has diminished its vibrancy and tone. Water can cause colour fade, so it's really important to use products which have been specifically formulated for coloured hair. Charles Worthington ColourPlex will ensure you can stick to your daily routine whilst keeping hair looking fresh and healthy.”

Charles Worthington ColourPlex Blue Toning Shampoo
Charles Worthington ColourPlex Blue Shampoo for brunettes contains neutralising blue pigments that remove warm, red under-tones.

He adds:

“In the same way that blonde hair can turn brassy, brunette hair is also prone to oxidizing which can bring out orange or red tones. If you'd like to keep your brown hair cool, I'd recommend using a blue toning shampoo once a week or alternating it with your regular shampoo if needed.

“My top tip is to rub the shampoo between the palms of your hands to help ensure an even distribution when you apply it to the hair. I've been recommending Violet Toning Shampoo to blonds for years, so I'm thrilled brunettes finally have a toning shampoo which is available to them on the high street as it really makes such a difference in between salon appointments.”

The primary ingredient within the ColourPlex Technology is Keravis™, a hydrolysed vegetable protein which, although not repairing broken bonds in the hair, does create new bonds which improve strength. This means that ColourPlex products not only act on the surface of the hair but also build strength from within, delivering anti-breakage benefits and improving hair manageability and softness.

The ColourPlex range also features a lasting delicate floriental fragrance which is fruity and feminine. In addition, Hydrolite™, a multifunctional fragrance-binding active which contains moisturising properties, helps ingredients to bind to the hair shaft to ensure fragrance is locked into hair for 24 hours.

The ColourPlex range features 12 colour care products including the UK's first Blue Shampoo for brunettes, which contains neutralising blue pigments that remove warm red under-tones to reveal a cooler, deeper brunette.

The full collection includes ColourPlex Toning Blue Shampoo, ColourPlex Violet Toning Shampoo and Mousse, ColourPlex Toning Ultra Violet Shampoo, ColourPlex Protecting Blond and Protecting Brunette Shampoos, ColourPlex Enhancing Blond and Enhancing Brunette Shampoos, ColourPlex Restoring Blond and Restoring Brunette Conditioners, and ColourPlex Damage Reverse Treatment.
