London salon launches course in Afro-textured hair

Afro-textured hair salon, Untype, is launching a new course covering the basics of Afro hair care and styling.

Running from June to August, the Summer School, which is open to anyone with or interested in Afro hair, comprises in-person and online learning. It covers the basics of Afro hair care and styling in a mix of theoretical and practical classes including braiding, wash day, hair loss and product advice.

Opened by trichologist and hairstylist Ebuni Ajiduah in October 2022, Untype is located in central London. The salon aims to provide expert solutions to prevent common causes of hair loss and to be a safe and welcoming space for Black women. In addition to trichology consultations, styling services and educational events like the Summer School, Untype offers a vibrant community hub promoting education, empowerment and celebration of Afro-textured hair.

Untype founder Ebuni Ajiduah, says:

"At Untype, we are redefining the narrative around Afro hair. We believe that hair health is of paramount importance, and our aim is to provide our clients with the tools, knowledge, and exceptional care they deserve.
