‘Glamsformation’ campaign treats NHS & keyworkers

A Leicestershire hair group is celebrating NHS and frontline workers by offering free pampering sessions.

George's Hairdressing, which has two salons located in Leicester and Oadby, launched the ‘Glamsformation' campaign during lockdown to recognise the true efforts of inspirational NHS and frontline workers who have gone above and beyond in recent months. Friends and family of keyworkers shared stories and nominated individuals for a complimentary cut, blow-dry and style.

Originally, one winner was going to be named, however the task of narrowing down over 100 candidates proved too challenging, and so all nominees will now receive a special in-salon treat.

Commenting on the ‘Glamsformation' campaign, George's Hairdressing Salon Director, Katie Katon, says:

“The NHS and frontline workers of Leicestershire have continuously inspired us, not just during lockdown, but over the years. We want to say a big thank you to them and this felt like the perfect way for us to start.

“Lockdown has been hard for many, but we've been very fortunate to have been able to furlough all of our staff and see the full team return to our salons. It's been hard work reopening, especially with the local lockdown changing our original opening date, but it's been nowhere near as hard for us as it has been for our NHS and frontline workers. As hairdressers, we get to hear all kinds of inspiring stories from nurses, doctors, carers and more every day – so it will be a great feeling to give back to them in the best way we can.”

George's Hairdressing has ongoing initiatives supporting their local community, including the ‘Jakki Williams room' which offers a comprehensive service for clients suffering from medical hair loss such as alopecia or cancer treatment. The salons also support The Bold Over Club, a support group for people suffering from medical hair loss; the group meets bimonthly at the salon to connect those with similar conditions.
