Don't forget to care for your feet this Christmas

With the Christmas season in full swing, clients may be concentrating on festive nails and party tans, but it's also the time to draw their attention to caring for their feet.

Sky-high stilettos and high heels can play havoc on our foot health, especially when we're not used to wearing them for hours at a time, let alone dancing the night away in them. Common foot issues caused by high heel wear include bunions, hammer toes and burning soles.

Thankfully, Deborah Armitage MD of DLT Podiatry is here with her top tips to prevent foot pain over the Christmas and New Year period.

  • Change your shoes regularly, and opt for shoes with different heel heights. Avoid exceeding a heel height of 4 cm.
  • Prevent burning soles by wearing a pressure relief pad inside your shoes. For closed toe shoes, Deborah recommends the Podopro Ball of Foot Gel Insert, and for open toe heels try Podopro Gel Dancer Pads.
  • Using a good foot cream will prevent hard skin and odour. A product like Ureka Tea Tree Footcare Cream contains Tea Tree oil to help control odour-causing bacteria and prevent infection, whilst soothing Calendula moisturises and provides smooth, soft skin.

  • Podopro Gel Dancer Pads
Prevent burning soles by wearing a pressure relief pad inside your shoes.
Keep your toe nails in check. A product like Dr.'s REMEDY Hydration Nail Moisture Treatment with Biotin and Pentavitin will improve nail strength, durability and help to deliver and retain moisture.
  • Caring for feet doesn't mean you can't have fun with colour, and Deborah recommends applying Dr.'s REMEDY Enriched Nail Polish, which contains Tea Tree Oil, Wheat Protein and Garlic Bulb extract along with Lavender to minimise the appearance of dry brittle nails, hydrate nail cuticles and improve the wear-time of your nail colour.
