CIDESCO publish Sustainability Initiative

CIDESCO is encouraging its members, students and training providers to become more aware of the climate emergency and supporting them with guidelines to becoming a more sustainable beauty and spa operator.

CIDESCO's Sustainability Initiative aims to encourage future therapists and managers to take responsibility in global sustainability, as well as ‘personal sustainability'. The organisation aims to emphasise that eco-efforts are not about sacrifice, but about healthy choices to enhance overall sustainability.

The CIDESCO International Sustainability Initiative includes a six step manifesto covering waste reduction, recycling, avoidance of pollutants, staff training, sourcing complaint suppliers, and water conservation.

As she announced their Sustainability Initiative, CIDESCO International President, Anna-Cari Gund, says:

“As a global enterprise with representation in more than 40 countries, our members can really make a difference when they come together to support such an important issue. Operating sustainably needs to be built into all our working practices, wherever we might be based, and having guidelines to follow makes it easier and achievable. We encourage our members to share their sustainability stories to encourage others and support this further through our marketing and social channels.”

With its members across the world, CIDESCO is hopeful that making small changes in line with their manifesto will result in big steps for the industry.  Each country will have a nominated Sustainability Mentor available to provide guidance to colleges, salons, spas and students.
